This is Bangle. We think he was hatched at least a year ago so is now two years old and is fattening up to prepare for his long migration flight to West Africa. He’s not much bigger than a blackbird. We measured his closed wing while we were ringing him – it was 179mm. But look at the length of his extended wings when he flies off – beautifully adapted for the long flight ahead of him.
