Kent Wildlife Trust scientist Dr Kirsty Swinnerton starts working with Marden Wildlife to conserve Turtle Doves in 2022

Dec 19, 2022

Our joint project with Kent Wildlife Trust, studying the movement of turtle doves between Marden farms, got off to a successful start. Licenced ringers trapped and ringed five doves and added colour rings so individual birds could be identified from thousands of photos taken on remote cameras by a team of volunteers. Having established how the doves use the supplementary food provided for them by farmers, next steps will be to look at how the birds are using other habitat features and resources being provided as part of DEFRA agri-environment schemes.
